Research and Discovery
At the crossroads of scientific research and Christian faith, Baylor offers a unique path to the quest for new knowledge. Here, teaching and discovery, fact and faith, professor and student all work together. To challenge minds. To change the world.
Designated as a Carnegie Foundation University with “Very High Research Activity,” Academic Analytics ranks Baylor among the “most productive” research universities in America. And Baylor's graduate faculty - in fields that range from physics, political science and preventive health to religion, sociology and philosophy - is ranked among the strongest in the nation.
As undergraduates, Baylor students gain opportunities to contribute to actual research typically found only at the graduate level. As grad students, they are at the center of world-impacting discoveries, working side-by-side with some of the leading research minds in the world.
Fully Engaged Faculty
Baylor is one of the few universities in the world that offers both extraordinary teaching and extraordinary research in a Christian atmosphere. With a 14:1 student to faculty ratio, professors are focused on the individual student, and in extending the learning experience beyond the walls of the classroom.
Here, learning is magnified by doing. Students not only have a ringside seat to the discoveries of tomorrow, they're part of the action. The experience is hands-on, with state-of-the-art equipment, sophisticated analytics and the chance to work, learn, collaborate and contribute alongside professors who are at the forefront of their respective fields.
Leading-Edge Facilities
Home to 33 classrooms and over 150 teaching and research labs, the Baylor Sciences Building is one of the premiere university science facilities in the nation. Equipped with advanced instrumentation, this magnificent 555,000 square-foot resource center supports interdisciplinary research and provides students and faculty the tools they need to take their projects to the next level.
The Baylor Research and Innovation Collaborative (BRIC) gives graduate students, researchers, organizations and private companies a unique environment to apply their research. With over 300,000 square feet of space for labs, research centers, workforce training and academic collaboration, BRIC pairs university initiatives with industry partners to foster creativity and ignite discoveries with real-time, real-world applications.
Discoveries that matter
From building the world's first mechanical dog's nose to sniff out cancer - to launching a payload into space that will influence our subsequent journeys into the galaxy - to unlocking the 2000 year-old mysteries whose revelations give context to our Biblical heritage - to traveling to the very crossroads of chemistry, structural biology, proteomics and biophysics to revolutionize early detection for one of childhood's most fatal diseases - research at Baylor is dedicated to making a difference.
This is a curriculum where social science meets social responsibility. Where world-class resources meet real world needs. And where the pursuit of knowledge is measured in the difference it makes in the lives of the people it touches.
Part of something greater
At Baylor, it's about more than just research. It's about impacting the world. It's about a university where teaching and discovery support one another. Where fact and faith strengthen one another. Where collaboration maximizes talent. Where resources multiply results. And where great people come together to do great things.
At Baylor, it's about being part of something greater.
